49ers rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall shot during robbery in San Francisco – NBC Bay Area

Ricky Pearsall, the first-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers, was shot during an attempted robbery in San Francisco’s Union Square on Saturday.

San Francisco Supervisor Aaron Peskin’s office confirmed to NBC Bay Area that Pearsall had been shot but was in stable condition.

According to Peskin’s office, the suspect is in custody.

Prior to the game, first-round receiver Pearsall missed the entire preseason due to a shoulder injury.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan described Pearsall’s issue as a shoulder subluxation, where the ball of the shoulder partially slides out of its socket and then pops back into place.

“He did it in college, I think, his third year,” Shanahan said last week in the 49ers’ final preseason game at the Las Vegas Raiders. “About 50 percent of the guys coming out of college do that. That wasn’t really the issue. He did it for the first time in OTAs with us. When you do that, it’s tender. Then he did it again here a couple weeks ago. It makes it tender, so you want to give him time to recover from it. It’s probably happened to 80 percent of the guys on our team. It’s just a normal thing.”

Pearsall experienced his last subluxation on Aug. 6, Shanahan said. He had one earlier during the offseason but continued to train.

Pearsall, the No. 31 pick who was Aiyuk’s teammate at ASU, appeared in six of 19 training camps and missed all three preseason games because of hamstring and shoulder injuries. The shoulder injury sidelined him for 20 days.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
