Netflix has discovered an important aspect of NFL-style PR management. Roll out a bright, shiny object on the ropes.

After a night of boxing that felt much closer to disaster than triumph, and in the wake of sharp criticism that their unverified ratings may have been more than a little fugazi, Netflix announced that Beyonce will perform during halftime of the Ravens-Texans game in Houston.

It honestly seems a bit beneath the pop icon, who performed at halftime of the Super Bowl. It’s safe to assume that Netflix made her an offer she couldn’t refuse.

Whatever Netflix pays, we hope they pay a lot more to improve their technology before December 25th. If viewers have the same experience as the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight, Netflix will hear it loudly from fans – and even more loudly from the NFL.
