Anthony Davis was not at all happy with the Lakers’ victory on Friday

The Los Angeles Lakers stopped their two-game losing skid with a win over the Toronto Raptors on Friday, but they made it harder on themselves than it had to be.

Early on it looked like they would cruise to an easy win when they led 43-19 at the end of the first quarter and 76-51 at halftime. But they probably got complacent after that, allowing 74 points in the second half as Toronto ran back on them and tightened things up.

Los Angeles managed to escape with a 131-125 win, and then Anthony Davis told the truth about how things were going north of the border.

“Unacceptable,” Davis said. “Yes, we won, we will definitely get the win because it is difficult to win in this competition, especially on the road, but we are still far from where we want to be. With such a big lead… If we are going to do something, have goals or ambitions and do something this season, we cannot allow that defensively.”

Davis was dominant for the fifth time in six games this season with 38 points on 14-of-20 shooting, 11 rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots. Since joining the Lakers five years ago, he has continued to demonstrate leadership both on and off the court.

Last season, the Lakers lost several games against inferior games that they should have easily beaten. By simply winning these games this time around, especially by a wide enough margin, they could single-handedly move past 50 wins by the end of the season.
