CHICAGO (WLS) — A man was stabbed Wednesday afternoon at a Walgreen’s store on the city’s south side. The company said the victim is a security guard.

The stabbing happened in the 9100 block of South Commercial Avenue around 1:25 p.m., Chicago police said.

Chopper 7 was above the scene, where Chicago police could be seen. It was not immediately clear whether the stabbing happened inside or outside the Walgreen’s.

A 35-year-old man was stabbed in the shoulder after having a verbal altercation with the perpetrator that turned physical, police said.

The victim was taken to a hospital in good condition.

“We are aware and are working with CPD in their investigation. The safety of everyone in our stores is our priority,” a Walgreen spokesperson said in a statement.

The perpetrator fled the scene in a silver Dodge minivan, police said.

No arrests have been made. Chicago police continue to investigate.
