Driver killed in 100mph crash into light pole, police say

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT/Gray News) – Police in Nebraska are investigating a crash that left a driver dead on Sunday.

Omaha Police Department officers responded to the crash near 144th Street and Hillsdale Avenue at 3:40 a.m.

Investigators determined the driver was traveling north on 144th Street at a speed estimated at more than 100 miles per hour before striking a light pole.

According to officers, the car was split in half and found on fire at the scene.

Medics pronounced the driver, 24-year-old Brenden Patire, dead at the scene.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
