Veterans Day offers a variety of offerings for service members in central Ohio, with local businesses and organizations giving back in delicious and adventurous ways.

  • McDonald’s restaurants in Columbus are celebrating by offering free breakfast to current and former military members. Veterans can enjoy a free Egg McMuffin or Bacon Egg Cheese Biscuit, along with a hash brown and any size soft drink, tea or coffee. This offer is available to dine-in or drive-thru customers with a valid military ID.
  • Kroger also honors veterans with a 10 percent discount. Veterans can use this discount in-store with a valid military ID, although certain items are excluded.
  • Starbucks gives veterans free cold or hot coffee.
  • Active duty military and vets receive a free meal at all Chili’s.
  • Denny’s is giving service members a free Original Grand Slam from 5 a.m. to noon.
  • IHOP has free red, white and blueberry pancakes.
  • Krispy Kreme is offering a free coffee and donut.

Even after Veterans Day ends, there are deals that last all month.

For those looking to enjoy the outdoors, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), in partnership with US Hotels, is offering 30% off camping reservations, vacation rentals, state-operated cabins or resort lodges throughout the month of November. To take advantage of this offer, veterans can visit this website and use the promo code “VETERAN24” for new reservations at participating state parks.

Great Ohio Lodges is also offering a 30% discount to veterans and active duty military personnel on lodge rooms and select cabins at their nine properties. Reservations can be made at www.greatohiolodges.com or by calling 1-800-ATAPARK (282-7275).

These offerings extend a heartfelt thank you to veterans and active duty military members and invite them to enjoy a meal or outing in appreciation of their service.
