Heavy storm possible on Wednesday’s “cooling day”.

Tonight will remain windy, keeping temperatures above average through the night, remaining in the 60s through 6 a.m. Wednesday morning in Omaha. Areas north of Omaha will cool into the upper 50s as a cold front pushes into the metro by morning. Some spotty showers will also begin to develop around sunrise.

Wednesday will be a “cooling day” as temperatures start warmest in the morning and turn colder by the afternoon. Omaha will start out in the 60s on Wednesday, but will quickly drop to the mid-50s by mid-morning and stay there for the rest of the day.

Thunderstorms will develop ahead of a cold front along and south of I-80 from late morning into the afternoon and could become severe. If we see a few severe storms, areas with damaging winds and hail will be the biggest concern, but a tornado is not impossible. This threat appears to remain mainly south of Omaha, leaving the region at 5 p.m.

A few showers are possible locally on Wednesday evening and night and it will remain windy, but the rain should clear before the start of the day on Thursday.

The cooler weather brings Halloween. It will be mostly sunny from the mid-fifties onwards. It will be chilly for the trick-or-treaters as we cool into the upper 40s by 8pm.

Friday looks chilly and slightly warmer. Highs will be around 60 degrees with lots of sunshine.

There seems to be a greater chance of rain for the weekend. Scattered rain will fall in the region on both Saturday and Sunday, leaving mostly cloudy skies. Saturday will be in the low 60s, followed by mid to high 60s on Sunday.

More rain is possible as we get into next week and before Election Day, starting in the mid 60s on Monday, and into the mid 50s on Tuesday.
