Foegele cut the lead to 3-1 at 7:07 of the second period, setting up a rebound after Joel Edmundson’s point shot deflected back off the end boards.

“The two power-play goals early on were tough,” Kings forward Trevor Moore said. “We’re just not executing. The effort was there tonight. We did not execute.”

Alexander Holtz scored his first of the season on a one-timer from the high slot to make it 4-1 at 2:59 of the third period.

“It was a lot of fun getting that first one out of the way,” said Holtz, who was acquired in a trade with the New Jersey Devils on June 29. “It was a very good pass from (Pietrangelo) there, and it was Nice to score a goal.”

Hertl scored his second goal of the game at 8:26, tapping in the rebound of Pietrangelo’s shot off the left post to make it 5-1.
