There are only three races left in this Formula 1 season, starting with the Grand Prix of Las Vegas on Sunday. Entering this race, Max Verstappen leads the championship and extends his lead by winning the most recent race in Brazil.

Verstappen has 393 points while Lando Norris is back in second place with 331 points. What’s going to happen in Las Vegas this weekend?

While the driver’s title isn’t really a competition at the moment, the constructor’s title is. McLaren currently leads with 593 points, but Ferrari is not far back with 557. Red Bull also remains in the hunt with 544 points. Mercedes are in fourth place and Aston Martin are likely to have a grip on fifth, but the battle for sixth is also fierce, with Alpine, Haas and RB all within five points.

At Interlagos earlier this month, Verstappen qualified only 17th on a rainy weekend but came from behind to take a shock victory. Verstappen has not yet won the title, but it will be difficult for Norris to make a realistic attempt to dethrone Verstappen and prevent the Red Bull star from achieving his fourth championship.

George Russell is on pole this weekend while Carlos Sainz Jr. starts second. Alpine’s Pierre Gasly, fresh from a shock podium in Brazil, starts third, while Sainz’s Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc is fourth on the grid.

Last year Verstappen won this race with 2.070 seconds ahead of Leclerc. Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez finished third. Don’t expect a repeat podium for Perez this week as he struggled in qualifying and failed to make it through the first qualifying round.
