Iconic rock band Jane’s Addiction starts fight during reunion concert

Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell attacked guitarist Dave Navarro in a bizarre onstage outburst, prompting band staff to drag him offstage and abruptly ending the band’s concert in Boston on Friday night.

Farrell appeared agitated and then told the crowd at the Leader Bank Pavilion, “f— you” before walking over to Navarro and elbowing him.

Navarro seemed genuinely confused by what was happening. He held up his hand and calmly walked back as Farrell approached him.

Farrell had to be restrained by crew members and bassist Eric Avery as he continued to strike.

After the lights dimmed and Farrell was escorted offstage, Navarro, Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins returned to the stage, hugging each other, waving to the crowd and making peace gestures.

Photographer Brian MacKenzie, who shot the reunion show, posted on X that Farrell “had a large bottle of wine with him all night” and that concertgoers initially thought the confrontation was a bit of a confrontation between the band members.

Jane’s Addiction is embarking on a reunion tour, its first in 15 years, and was scheduled to perform Sunday at the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

As of Saturday morning, no one within the band has commented on the incident or whether the tour will continue.

Farrell told the New York Post in September 2022 that he had missed the performance with Navarro, who had been struggling with COVID for a long time.

“I wish I had my sweet guitar player around,” he said. “How do you find a guitar player who can fill Dave Navarro’s shoes?”
