‘It was really solid’: Rod Brind’Amour on Bounce Back In Vegas

The Carolina Hurricanes handed the Vegas Golden Knights their first home loss on the ice with a 5-2 victory on Monday night.

Eric Robinson, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Jordan Staal, Tyson Jost and Jordan Martinook all scored for Carolina, while Pyotr Kochetkov made 30 saves in the win.

After the game, Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour spoke to the media in Vegas. This is what he had to say:

Rod Brind’Amour

About the game: It was really solid. A good start. We were able to benefit from a good period in the first period. Like we’ve had some good periods where we haven’t gotten anything out of it and then you know they’re going to get a good bounce back and they did, but we were able to get that lead and that was very crucial.

About Tyson Jost: Nice to see him getting lucky, but we need contributions from everyone every night and we got that from several guys tonight, which is great.

About the criminal murder: We have conceded goals here and there, but tonight the difference was early. At the end of the game it didn’t matter. It was over. I thought getting that shorty was huge too. Which cost us our lives last night when we gave up a shorty. There’s actually a dagger in there and I thought that was a really big part of the game.

On the Jesperi Kotkaniemi line: When you talk about contributions, it’s not just about one man. All three of them are now really dialed in and have almost been our number one line. That was really positive for us.
