Jelly Roll Reveals He Lost 100 lbs: Diet and Exercise Secrets

Jelly roll revealed that he was “inspired” to start “focusing” on his health, and as a result, he has “officially lost a hundred pounds.”

“It’s all been food. I’m exercising, I’m walking. But what I’ve learned is that as I’m losing weight, I just naturally want to go for walks and do more things because I’m lighter. I feel better”, Jelly, 39, — real name Jason DeFord – proudly explained during an October 11 appearance on the “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast.

The “Save Me” singer got help from his bandmates and crew when it came to weekly practices as they were on tour playing numerous NBA arenas.

“We now play basketball three days a week,” Jason said of his favorite new activity.

Calling it the “coolest act of love,” the CMA winner got emotional as he revealed, “My entire band has watched me battle my addiction…they’ve watched me slowly figure out my life and they knew the last mountain before was my food. ”

Jelly is “training every day and running around the arenas,” and he and his bandmates have “full tournaments.”

Additionally, the Nashville, Tennessee native is “hitting the gym now.” When it comes to his health, Jelly said, “I’ve never been more concerned. I never cared about it anymore. I have never been happier.”

Jelly plans to continue losing weight after experiencing noticeable body changes, revealing: ‘I feel so good just losing 100 pounds. I’m like 420 now. I walk around differently, talk differently, my shoulders are positioned differently, I move differently.”

In addition to exercise, the “Wild Ones” singer hired a “real nutritionist.” I only eat his food.” Jelly’s daily diet now consists of eating just twice a day with a ‘fruit snack in between’. He also fasts once a week for 24 hours and practices intermittent fasting when possible.

Jelly became emotional as he shared at his biggest, “I weighed up to 557 pounds. I had to weigh myself at meat restaurants.”

Jelly described himself as a ‘lifelong food addict’ and talked about how his whole mentality has now changed.

“Like a drug addict, I scanned the room and counted everything I could eat,” he recalls how he always immediately looked for food when he entered the room.

“The other day I was in my green room and someone picked up a candy and said, ‘Do you want one,’ and I didn’t even know the candy was in there. And that was the first time I thought, ‘I’m on to something. For example, I am the king who is winning now.’ I didn’t even scan for candy. It’s not even a thought when I walk into a place. That used to be literally one of the first things I looked for. I’ve had to make so many different little habit changes,” he said.

Jelly revealed in 2018 that he still struggled with overeating, which helped him gain back 60 pounds he had previously lost. The country star decided to “start over and fight my lifelong demon again.” He hired a health mentor and started posting weekly weight loss results on YouTube.

“I have been obese since I was a little kid. All I’ve ever known was being fat and I’m fucking miserable,” he wrote on Instagram. “I want to skydive, bungee jump, ride a bull, parasail, ride roller coasters, I want to live a normal life and have a normal relationship with food. I battle addiction and alcoholism every day.”

However, Jelly’s weight continued to yo-yo, with losses and gains in the years that followed.

In April, fans noticed that Jelly had lost weight during a performance at the CMT Music Awards.

“I probably lost 70 pounds,” Jelly said in an April 13 interview with People. “I really laughed, man. I do two to three miles a day, four to six days a week. I spend 20 to 30 minutes in the sauna every day, including six minutes in a cold dip. I eat healthy now.”

He also said he felt “really good” and hoped to lose another “100, 100” pounds.
