Interim heavyweight champion Aspinall is certainly the frontrunner. The Manchester fighter was on the sidelines to watch Jones’ return and has been relentlessly chasing an uncontested fight for weeks.

Aspinall, 31, is probably the riskiest opponent for Jones given his age and abilities.

We don’t yet know the ceiling of Aspinall’s abilities, which makes him a dangerous prospect.

As interim champion, Jones is expected to fight Aspinall next or he will likely be stripped of the heavyweight belt.

However, Jones suggested he wanted to “negotiate” with the top brass of the UFC for his next fight, hinting that he might be keen to earn a bigger payday if he agreed to fight Aspinall next.

UFC president Dana White thinks the fight will be huge and said Jones would be “well compensated.”

“It would be by far the biggest heavyweight fight in UFC history,” White said.

“Tom is waiting outside for me now and Jon will be Jon. He will disappear, not only will you not hear what he is doing, and neither will I. But then he will resurface, he will call, and we will get it is done.”
