Laken Riley died at the hands of a violent monster. Joe Biden and the open-border industrial complex, including the left-wing sanctuary city policies, brought her right into his hands. One such policy is that of the lousy prosecutor in Athens, who came to power Soros-style and promised never to seek the death penalty.

Jose Ibarra entered the United States illegally. He received taxpayer-funded flights. Upon arrival, he was given housing and protection from the police. But when he stalked and murdered an innocent nursing student on the campus of the University of Georgia – instead of wiping out the planet of this deranged, depraved lunatic, the now defeated district attorney in Athens, Georgia has ensured that taxpayers are will finance room and board. for the rest of his life.

The monster who killed Laken Riley will serve the rest of his natural life in a Georgia prison. He was sentenced to two life sentences without parole and then some. Barring unforeseen circumstances, illegal Venezuelan immigrant Jose Ibarra will never breathe free air again. But the question remains: why doesn’t he risk the death penalty? Why would DA Gonzalez be so callous and indifferent to the memory of Laken Riley that she would not seek the ultimate punishment in one of the most heartbreaking murders in Georgia history?

MURDER IN LAEKEN RILEY: JUDGE SENTENCES STUDENT MURDERER AFTER FAMILY ADDRESSES ‘MONSTER’ IN COURT

After all, Georgia’s death penalty law provides for the death penalty in the worst murder cases, but only if the prosecutor chooses to carry out that sentence.

To qualify for the death penalty for murder in Georgia, special circumstances must exist. The law says that these circumstances are as follows:

  • Aggravating circumstancesThe prosecutor must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that one of the following circumstances applied: The perpetrator has a prior criminal record. The perpetrator committed the crime while committing another crime or serious punishment. The perpetrator committed the crime for financial gain. The perpetrator has committed a crime. high risk of death for several people in a public place. The perpetrator murdered a bailiff, public prosecutor or advocate general while they were carrying out their official duties. The perpetrator committed the crime as someone else’s agent. The crime was scandalous or deliberately despicable. terrible or inhuman
  • The perpetrator has previously been convicted of a serious crime
  • The perpetrator committed the crime while committing another serious crime or aggravated battery
  • The perpetrator committed the crime for financial gain
  • The perpetrator created a high risk of death for several people in a public place
  • The perpetrator murdered a bailiff, public prosecutor or advocate general while they were carrying out their official duties
  • The perpetrator committed the crime as an agent of another
  • The crime was scandalous or deliberately vicious, heinous or inhuman

Applying these factors, this case qualified for the death penalty in at least the following ways:

First, Ibarra committed his heinous act while in the process of committing the capital crime of “kidnapping with bodily harm.” He was convicted of this offense in count 6 of the indictment.

Second, the crime was committed while Ibarra was committing the crime of aggravated battery, which was count 8 of the indictment and for which he was found guilty.

Third, Laken Riley’s murder was without a doubt “outrageous or deliberately vicious, heinous or inhumane.” Ibarra went hunting for someone to rape. He found Laken Riley and when she fought her attacker for almost twenty minutes, he bashed her head in with a rock and threw away her remains as if she were a piece of common trash.

Despite the existence of these circumstances, District Attorney Gonzalez has chosen not to seek the death penalty in this case. In fact, she vowed never to seek the death penalty, no matter how terrible the details of the crime. On her first day on the job four years ago, Gonzalez sent a memo announcing that she would not seek the death penalty regardless of the circumstances, taking away the jury’s right to make that decision in the most gruesome cases. This unilateral decision is not the intention of Georgian lawmakers and goes against the will of the people.

This was no ordinary robbery or a drug deal gone wrong. This crime was truly sick, vile, disgusting and unbelievably sad. This cold-blooded killer went on the hunt for someone to rape and she refused to be his victim. As the prosecutor said in his opening statement, Laken Riley fought with him for nearly 20 minutes. She fought for her life and she fought for her dignity. And then Ibarra repeatedly hit her on the head with a rock, strangled her until the blood vessels in her eyes burst, tried to take off her clothes, leaving her lifeless body under the rubble. If there was ever anyone who deserved to lose his life, it’s Jose Ibarra.

The message – to all “sanctuary cities” – and to anyone who wants to come to America, must be loud and clear: If you come here illegally and violently kill one of our daughters, you will pay with your life. This animal doesn’t deserve 3 hots and a crib. Jose Ibarra is morally corrupt beyond repair. He cannot be rehabilitated. Georgia deserves retribution and Laken Riley deserves substantially more justice than District Attorney Gonzalez allowed.
