Rev up those fryers!

The Krabby Patty meal is coming to a Wendy’s near you Oct. 8, but only for a limited time. In celebration of the 25th anniversary of “SpongeBob SquarePants,” the fast-food chain is launching its Krabby Patty Kollab, complete with the restaurant’s take on the iconic Krabby Patty, fries, and a Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty.

What could be better than serving up smiles? Starting next week, fans can finally taste the iconic Krabby Patty that has tickled our imagination for decades since the beloved Nickelodeon show first aired in 1999. Wendy’s, based in Columbus, is bringing the concept to life in restaurants nationwide.

“It makes sense that two of the most iconic squares in pop culture are teaming up to bring a taste of this unique, limited-time experience to life for fans of all ages!” Lindsay Radkoski, Wendy’s US Chief Marketing Officer, said this week in a news release.

While we don’t yet have the secret formula, here’s what to know about Wendy’s Krabby Patty meal.

People Order Our Patties: What’s Included in the Wendy’s SpongeBob meal?

Here are the menu items in the Krabby Patty Kollab, according to Wendy’s:

  • Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty: A combination of Wendy’s Vanilla Frosty and a Pineapple Mango-flavored purée swirl.
  • Krabby Patty Kollab Burger: Wendy’s take on a Krabby Patty features a quarter pound of Wendy\’s beef, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, and a top-secret Krabby Kollab sauce on a toasted bun. It\’s likened to Dave’s Single cheeseburger from Wendy’s, but unlike the original Krusty Krab version, Wendy’s recreation has a square patty.

When does the Wendy’s SpongeBob Krabby Patty Kollab come out?

For a limited time, the chain will debut the Krabby Patty Kollab meal on October 8 nationwide at participating Wendy’s and on the Wendy’s app.

‘You like Krabby Patties, don’t you, California?…’

You don’t need a license to catch a sandwich. If you want to try the new meal for yourself, there are 298 locations to choose from in California, including 11 in San Diego, eight in Fresno, six in Bakersfield, and five stores in Riverside.

I’m (not) ready

While many SpongeBob lovers are excited for the Krabby Patty Kollab meal, other fans criticized the rollout, noting that it goes against the wishes of the late Stephen Hillenburg, the creator of “SpongeBob SquarePants,” who died in 2018.

According to a 2004 article from the New York Times, “Mr. Hillenburg has no problem with candy and ice cream tie-ins…But Mr. Hillenburg does have issues with fast food, which is full of hidden additives,” the article stated ahead of the first SpongeBob movie’s release.
