Either way, one thing we do know is that Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley is not involved in these mysterious plans. The frontman was forced to share a statement yesterday (August 27) after originally making the announcement at the same time as Linkin Park’s countdown.

“I feel the need to debunk some current rumors,” he wrote. “It has been brought to my attention that many people think I may be joining a reunion band. But I just want to say that despite popular belief, I will not be joining Oasis… or Linkin Park. Or any other band for that matter.

“I have my own ‘tour and book’ announcement that I’m now moving to the end of the week, before our US tour.

“I look forward to seeing what these two great bands do in the future.”
