Meximelt, Caramel Apple Empanada is back

’80s Taco Bell fans take note: Just in time for Halloween, the Meximelt has come back from the dead.

And it’s not the only popular, discontinued item back on the fast-food chain’s menu.

By Thursday, five items that had disappeared from the menu over the past six decades had returned to Taco Bell drive-thru and ordering screens across the country.

Earlier this month, the chain introduced its limited-time Decades Menu, bringing back five popular items, including the Meximelt – with seasoned beef, pico de gallo and a blend of mozzarella, cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese in a tortilla. All five, each from the signature decade, returned for a price of $3 or less each.

“The Decades Menu helps unite generations of fans who fondly remember these menu items, with a new era of fans who have yet to experience the delight of a savory Tostada, taste the legendary Green Sauce Burrito or take their first bite of a Meximelt have to take,” the company said in a press release.

Here’s what Taco Bell brought back from the dead on Halloween:

Decades Menu Items and Prices

Five Taco Bell items — each introduced in a different decade and priced at less than $3 — are now back in stores.

They are:

  • 1960s: Tostada priced at $2.19 and available October 31st. This item features baked beans, red sauce, crispy lettuce, and shredded cheese over a corn tostada shell.

  • 1970s: Burrito with Green Sauce priced at $2.49 and available October 31st. This ’70s burrito is filled with refried beans, onions, shredded cheese, and green sauce made with green chili, peppers, tomatillos, jalapeño, and herbs.

  • 2000s: Caramel Apple Empanada priced at $2.99 and available November 21st. Launched in 2000, the sweet treat surrounds apple pieces and a creamy caramel filling with a golden brown, crispy exterior.
