Mike Tyson has ‘no regrets’ about fighting Jake Paul after ‘almost dying’ in June | Boxing News

Mike Tyson says he has “no regrets” stepping into the ring to face Jake Paul “one last time” after admitting he “almost died” in June.

Tyson, 58, lost via unanimous decision to YouTuber boxer Paul after eight two-minute rounds in Texas, 19 years after his last professional fight, against Kevin McBride.

The former undisputed world heavyweight champion appeared to leave the door open for future fights as he spoke to the fight broadcaster. Netflix.

Tyson wrote: “This is one of those situations where you lost but still won. I’m grateful for last night. No regrets about stepping into the ring one last time.

“I almost died in June. I had eight blood transfusions. I lost half my blood and 25 pounds in the hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight, so I won.

Paul says he didn’t want to hurt Tyson after beating the former world heavyweight champion with a unanimous points decision

“For my kids to see me stand toe-to-toe and finish eight rounds with a talented fighter half my age, in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy Stadium, is an experience no one has the right to ask for. Thanks you do.”

Paul paid tribute to Tyson after the fight, saying: “Mike Tyson, this is such an honor. He’s the best to ever do this.”

“He’s an icon. It was an honor to fight him. He was exactly what I thought he would be.”
