Kamala Harris won the New Mexico contest and NBC News projects, capturing the five Electoral College votes. In 2020, Biden won New Mexico with 54% of the vote, compared to Trump’s 44%. In 2016, Hillary Clinton won New Mexico with 48% to Trump’s 40%. The state has voted Democrat in every presidential election since 1992, with one exception: in 2004, when New Mexico backed incumbent Republican George W. Bush.
