No school for Spanish Springs High after floods damaged school

The Washoe County School District canceled classes at Spanish Springs High School on Monday after a broken sprinkler caused significant damage and flooding at the school in Sparks.

According to the district, employees and cleaning crews were cleaning the school Monday morning. The district also said the school is being monitored for damage.

No information was immediately available on whether the damage was so extensive that classes had to be canceled for additional days.

Dear Spanish Springs High School Families, This is a message on behalf of Principal Sean Hall, with important information to share with you:

Spanish Springs High School suffered significant damage from flooding due to a broken sprinkler. Our cleaning crews and facilities management staff are working to clean the school and ensure it is safe for our students and staff to return to classes.

Unfortunately we have to cancel school for today, Monday October 28th, so that the damage can be accessed and repaired.

Once again, classes for Monday, October 28 are canceled due to flooding at the school.
