With Election Day quickly approaching, registering to vote in Oregon may look a little different this year.

Gov. Tina Kotek recently has paused the Motor Voter programmeaning residents will no longer be automatically registered when they receive a state ID card. Since 2016, Oregonians are automatically registered when they receive or renew their state driver’s license.

All Oregon voters who wish to receive a mail-in ballot for this election must now register by 11:59 PM PDT on October 15. Ballots are being mailed out throughout the week and election officials are encouraging voters to return them as soon as possible. .

Those who have not yet registered in Oregon must have a state-issued driver’s license or identification card and can register at the Oregon Secretary of State website.

Voters can also use the same link to check their registration status and update their address if necessary. If the address is not current or unavailable, the ballot will be returned and the voter will be listed as inactive.
