Paradin’, Yellin’, Boomin’ for Fantastic U or Montana Homecoming

Someone get the weather service to sign a binding contract because it sounds pretty good right now!

With the promise (for now) of sunshine and highs in the 60s and 70s, you are invited to join the excitement of the University of Montana’s Homecoming week activities, including several extremely popular events. And that’s not even counting the big football game!

Homecoming week on the UM campus includes traditional highlights such as the annual parade starting at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Higgins Avenue and Broadway in downtown Missoula. The parade heads south on Higgins and then east on University Avenue. Celebrate your Grizzly pride and spirit with a lively parade of floats, bands and community solidarity. The 2024 parade theme is “An Autumn Affair.” Don’t forget, Griz fans, the home game against Northern Arizona will be at 2 p.m., giving you some extra time to get to the stadium after the parade.

The night before the parade there is another event you won’t want to miss: the Friday Yell Night Pep Rally. The activities start at 8 p.m. on the UM Campus Oval. It is free and open to everyone. It’s an evening full of Griz spirit and party, including:

UM Fire Club Bonfire

Words from head football coach Bobby Hauck

Grizzly Football Team Members

Illumination of the M

Singing on the stairs

UM Marching Band and Alumni Marching Band

Spirit Squads and Monte the Mascot (recently inducted into the National Mascot Hall of Fame)

Place names in Montana that celebrate how big and wonderful it is

It’s the fourth largest state, so why wouldn’t Montana have place names that show how big and beautiful it is?
