Rain possible during NYC parade – NBC New York

New Yorkers heading to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday will unfortunately need to bring rain gear, according to the latest Storm Team 4 forecast.

Rain is expected during the parade, but the good news is that the wind is expected to be less than 10 miles per hour, which would mean the balloons could fly.

The Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons cannot fly when maximum sustained winds are 27 miles per hour or more, or when gusts exceed 34 miles per hour.

Before we reach Thursday, let’s enjoy the nice weather on Monday. It should be sunny and in the 50s.

It will start to rain briefly on Tuesday, but it should disappear by the afternoon.

Travel forecast day before Thanksgiving

Wednesday is looking good and clear for holiday travel, on what is typically the busiest travel day of the Thanksgiving week.

High temperatures are expected to be in the low 50s and it should be mostly sunny, allowing for smooth vacation travel (without traffic).

Thanksgiving Day Forecast for New York

There is a chance of an all-day rain event on Thanksgiving Thursday. The rain is expected to start around 8:30 am and continue throughout the day.

We expect temperatures in the 40s and showers at the start of the parade, with periods of rain until dinner time. Showers may continue until early Friday.

It’s expected to be a rain shower for the immediate New York City metro area, and any snow will likely be in the northern part of the state. In fact, snow seems unlikely for the Catskills and the Poconos as temperatures will simply be too warm.

Weekend weather forecast

Cold weather follows Thanksgiving and begins in December. This weather pattern will hold without significant warming through the first week of the month, and that includes a very cold Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting.

So how cold will it be? We will spend days with highlights that are more aligned with the averages of mid-January. Ouch.

After Thursday there is no longer a chance of rain in the weather forecast, but it will remain quite cold.
