Rapper Fatman Scoop dies at 53 after collapsing during concert in Connecticut

Rapper Fatman Scoop died after falling asleep during a performance in Connecticut on Friday night, according to a report.

He was 53.

The New York-born artist, whose real name is Isaac Freeman III, was headlining the “Green & Gold Party” in Hamden, Connecticut, when he suffered a “medical emergency.”

Video posted to social media shows Fatman Scoop whipping up the crowd at Town Center Park shirtless as he stepped onto the stage of the DJ booth and collapsed out of view of the audience.

According to the video and multiple reports, people could be seen performing chest compressions behind the DJ’s screen, while other performers on stage led the audience in prayer.

According to TMZ, authorities were called to the park around 8:33 p.m. He was scheduled to begin his concert at 7:15 p.m.

Fatman Scoop was carried off stage on a stretcher and taken to a local hospital.

The park is located six miles north of New Haven, Connecticut.

The rapper was scheduled to perform at the event last month, but due to bad weather, the performance was postponed in August.

Hamden Mayor Lauren Garrett confirmed that Fatman Scoop suffered a medical emergency before being taken to the hospital by ambulance.

“Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers,” Garrett wrote on Facebook.

Fatman Scoop is best known for his 90s club favorite, “Be Faithful,” which has racked up millions of views.

He was featured on Missy Elliott’s “Lose Control”, which reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 in October 2005.

He was also featured on Mariah Carey’s Grammy-nominated “It’s Like That” and has produced songs with Timberland and Magoo, Nick Cannon and Skrillex.
