The Portland Trail Blazers family has lost a longtime member as former radio play-by-play broadcaster Brian Wheeler has passed away. The report comes from media member Kerry Eggers.

As Eggers points out, Wheeler was the radio voice of the Blazers from 1998 to 2019. He replaced classic radio broadcaster Bill Schonely and quickly carved out his own niche with a resonant voice and passionate appeals.

Wheeler was 62 years old when he died.
