Rudy Giuliani ordered his New York apartment and valuables turned over to former Georgia election workers he defamed

A federal judge in New York has ordered Rudy Giuliani to turn over his luxury New York City apartment and many of his valuables to the two Georgia election workers he defamed.

In a decision released Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman ordered Giuliani to transfer personal property “including cash accounts, jewelry and valuables, a legal claim for unpaid attorneys’ fees and his interest in his co-op apartment on Madison Avenue to a conservatorship.” within seven days.

Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Wandrea “Shaye” Moss filed a lawsuit in August to seize the former New York City mayor’s assets in an effort to begin collecting the $146 million in damages that was awarded to them last year after a judge repeatedly found Giuliani liable to defame them. Giuliani had falsely accused the pair of election fraud after the 2020 presidential election.

The judge granted the mother and daughter the right to use a trustee to sell Giuliani’s assets “to ensure that the liquidation of the transferred assets is accomplished expeditiously” while “enhancing the sale value of the unique and intangible goods is maximized and therefore the sales value is increased.” likelihood of satisfaction of the plaintiffs’ judgment.”

Among the items to be transferred are Giuliani’s apartment, which is valued at $5.7 million, his collection of luxury watches, including watches gifted to him by his grandfather and the French president, a signed Joe DiMaggio jersey and a 1980 Mercedes owned by actress Lauren Bacall.

Some items not included in the decision include his three New York Yankees World Series rings, as his son Andrew Giuliani has claimed that his father gifted the rings to him. The judge said Andrew Giuliani’s claim — and Freeman and Moss’s claim to Giuliani’s Florida apartment — would be determined at a later date.

An attorney for the couple, Aaron Nathan of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, praised the judge’s ruling.

“We are proud that our clients will finally begin receiving some of the compensation they are entitled to for Giuliani’s actions,” Nathan said, adding that “the outcome should send a strong message that there must be an award.” paid for those who choose to deliberately spread disinformation.”
