Team news: Two changes for Shakhtar visit | Team news | News

Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus have both been named in the starting line-up for our clash with Shakhtar Donetsk at the Arsenal Stadium.

Jesus takes over the captain’s armband as he comes in for his fourth start of the season, while Martinelli is also back in the starting line-up. Mikel Merino and Raheem Sterling are the two who dropped out against Bournemouth on Saturday.

David Raya therefore continues in goal behind the same back four of Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel and Riccardo Calafiori.

Thomas Partey and Declan Rice are back in midfield, with Kai Havertz starting up front. The German wants to become the first player ever to score in eight consecutive matches at the Emirates Stadium.

Furthermore, there are no changes to the team, which means that there is no return from injury for Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber, among others.

As for the visitors, Shakhtar came into the match with just one point from the first two matches. They make three changes to the team that lost 3-0 to Atalanta last time.

Arsenal: Raya, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori, Partey, Rice, Jesus, Martinelli, Trossard, Havertz. Subs: Neto, Setford, Kiwior, Zinchenko, Monlouis, Robinson, Lewis-Skelly, Jorginho, Merino, Nwaneri, Sterling, Butler-Oyedeji.
