ANN ARBOR – What Michigan didn’t do Saturday played a major role in the win. One of the most turnover-prone teams in the country protected the ball all night against Michigan State. The Wolverines also did not commit a penalty. Both went a long way towards a 24-17 victory.

Michigan couldn’t afford to be as sloppy as it has been this season. Entering the weekend, only five of the 133 FBS teams had more turnovers than Michigan’s 15. The Wolverines had committed turnovers in all seven games, including two games of two and three games of three.
