The verdict on Delphi’s murder has been reached. Follow live as we wait for the announcement

DELPHI, Ind. – Jurors in the double murder trial of Richard Allen have reached a verdict, sources say.

Allen, 52, is accused of killing Abigail “Abby” Williams and Liberty “Libby” German, who went missing on Feb. 13, 2017, while hiking the Monon High Bridge trail. Their bodies were found dead the next day by searchers in the area.

Journalists from the Indianapolis Star and the Lafayette Journal & Courier will provide updates on the verdict and what comes next.

The five men and seven women deliberated for approximately eighteen hours, spread over four days. Members of the media were alerted around 1.30pm on Monday that the jurors had reached a verdict. Attorneys and families of the victims were also seen entering the courthouse.

Jurors will continue deliberation Monday morning

At 9 a.m. Monday, the jury in the Richard Allen murder trial will return to the Carroll County Courthouse to deliberate on two counts of murder and two counts of murder during kidnapping.

After both sides completed their closing arguments Thursday afternoon, jurors deliberated until just after 3:30 p.m. They returned at 9am on Friday and continued deliberations until about 4pm without reaching a verdict. After hours of deliberation on Saturday, November 9, they still had not reached a verdict. Officials said they had deliberated for a total of about 14 hours at the end of Saturday’s hearing.
