I started off pretty well today, but even cutting it from 2,000+ to just 11 didn’t really help enough. I should have used all the new letters, but I thought I might be able to guess it in half, so why not? CORAL didn’t help as much as COURT, and CORNY was even worse. All I could think about at the moment was CORER, and somehow that made sense in the end. Good thing, too!

Just like yesterday, today a total wash. I get 0 points for guessing four points and because the Wordle Bot also guessed four points, I get 0 points for the tie. Big fat zeros all around!

How to Play Competitive Wordle

• Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
• If you beat your opponent, you get 1 point. In case of a draw you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or play for a new score every day.
• Friday is 2XP, which means you double your points: positive or negative.
• You can keep a running tally or just play day by day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word core comes from the root word corewhich itself goes back to Middle English coremeaning ‘heart’ or ‘central part’. This probably comes from Old French coeurmeaning ‘heart’, and ultimately from Latin cor or cordismeaning ‘heart’. The suffix -eh in core denotes a person or thing that performs a specific action, so a core is something that removes the core of an object, such as a fruit.
