TOUR Championship 2024 Payout Breakdown: Prize Money, Prize Pool

The PGA Tour season concludes Sunday at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta for the 2024 TOUR Championship. In the sixth year of the staggered start to the FedEx Cup Playoffs final, Scottie Scheffler entered this tournament with a two-shot lead on the leaderboard. But this time, he was looking to seal the deal and win the monstrous TOUR Championship prize money that comes with it.

Scheffler has entered this year’s TOUR Championship as the leader twice, and both times he’s been overtaken. First it was Rory McIlroy who demolished the field, then in 2023 it was Viktor Hovland who continued his run to the winner’s circle. In the 2024 season, however, Scheffler seemed determined not to let that happen, shooting a blistering 16-under through the first three rounds to give himself a five-stroke lead over Collin Morikawa and the rest of the field.

With the kind of prize money on the line this week, there’s always extra motivation for East Lake to make the deal. But how much money are we talking about? Check out these TOUR Championship payout charts and tell me you wouldn’t try to jack it up for those kinds of payouts.

The winner of the TOUR Championship takes home a ridiculous $25 million in prize money. The winner’s share for capturing the TOUR Championship and the FedEx Cup is actually $5 million more than the total wallet signature events and the other two events in the playoff. The total TOUR Championship purse comes to $82.95 million this week, which will be divided among the 30 players who make it to East Lake. The FedEx Cup total purse is $120 million, with the remaining $17.05 million divided among players ranked No. 31-150 in the final FedEx Cup rankings.

The prize money is outrageous when it comes to the TOUR Championship, in a good way. Finishing in the Top 5 at East Lake guarantees you a payday of at least $5 million, which would be the largest payday for any other event on the PGA Tour. What’s more, every player in the Top 12 makes seven figures, while last place still pays a cool $550,000.

Perhaps the most bizarre statistic in all of this: Scottie Scheffler, who entered the final round at East Lake with a five-stroke lead, is the only player to have earned $25 million in earnings in the 2024 PGA Tour season. He would exceptionally add to that number if he closes it out on Sunday.
