“Will they learn lessons?”: Sanders drags the Democratic Party after Harris’s election loss

Bernie Sanders is concerned that the Democratic Party will not learn the lessons from Tuesday’s overwhelming presidential election loss.

In a blistering statement the Vermont senator shared on X on Wednesday, Sanders said the party has “failed the working class.” He said Kamala Harris’ loss on Tuesday only reaped what the party had sown.

“It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party that has failed the working class finds that the working class has failed them,” Sanders wrote. “While Democratic leaders defend the status quo, the American people are angry and want change. And they are right.”

Sanders took center stage in his statement, which decried the lack of universal health care in the US and rampant income inequality.

Sanders supported Harris throughout the campaign. He encouraged voters to go to the polls despite his own opposition to their handling of Israel’s war in Gaza. In his statement Wednesday, he called the Harris campaign’s continued support for Israel a blunder.

“Today, despite strong opposition from a majority of Americans, we continue to spend billions to finance the extremist Netanyahu government’s all-out war against the Palestinian people, which has led to the horrific humanitarian disaster of mass malnutrition and starvation of thousands of children. he said.

Sanders openly wondered whether the Democratic Party would learn “real lessons from this disastrous campaign.”

“Will they understand the pain and political alienation that tens of millions of Americans are experiencing?” he asked. “Probably not.”
