Witherspoon, who plays Madeline, and co-star Nicole Kidmanwho plays Celeste, have both teased the return of the beloved HBO series more than five years after Season 2 wrapped.

“We’re working on it,” she said Variety at the 2024 Golden Globes. “Nic and I worked on it.”

Kidman, who is also an executive producer and won an Emmy for her performance as Celeste Wright on the series, shared in January that she and Witherspoon are actively working on the new season, although she couldn’t reveal many details at the time.

“That’s all we can say,” she said. “We need to start shutting up… we need to button up.”
